Hi Ron,
We met briefly at the corner of Edward st and Highland about a month ago. As
you might know from Facebook I'm an artist painter and I'm looking for people
to paint who will be displayed in a feature movie this summer. I usually take
pictures of the subject unless if they already have some photos that I think is
suitable to paint and I find some of yours on your Facebook profile (I hope
that's ok) that I like a lot. So with your permission I would like to paint a
portrait of you from one of those pictures below (I like the first one). I'm
sending you my website as well so you can familiarize with what I do.
I hope you'll accept and I wish you the best!

Subject: Ron Whitehead & Eye of The Fuking Storm @ Louisville Experimental Music Festival
hello folks! today putting together final list of performers
(music, spoken word, song, dance, painting, every form of creative expression
plus want performance filmed and photographed) for 1st ever Louisville
Experimental Music Festival. Ron Whitehead & Eye of The Fuking Storm are
one of the headliners (hell everybody who performs in the festival is a
headliner far as i'm concerned). performing last evening of this june 24th at
Derby City Espresso. show starts 9pm with Thaniel Ion Lee then R. Keenan Lawlor then
Cosmological Contact then us. we've got electric and acoustic guitars, sitar,
keyboards, percussion, didgeridoo, digital, techno, electronica, alternative,
rock, rap, hip hop, jazz, blues, experimental, performance art, art on the walls,
all of which will be fusion creative expression. only rehearsal live on stage.
we'll have an hour but since we're going last i figure we'll be able to play as
long as we want. all musicians will perform throughout entire
show. most important thing is to listen. listening is the greatest art of
all. several folks will do solo spoken word or song. the voice is #1
instrument. all other instruments accompany the voice. utmost importance
for everyone including spoken word & singer to give musicians one or two
line emotional synopsis/range of piece you're gettin ready to perform. but only
give that info right before you start the piece. then everybody listen.
everybody expresses themselves fully but in an ebbing flowing intertextual
interconnected harmonious (even when it's dissonant) way.
so far confirmed Atticus Coleman, Aaron West, Allen Sweeney, Andy Cook, Ray
Wegimont, Kelly Cook, Julie Bryan, Kenn Parks, Johnny Sands, Mark Prince, Jaime
Duvall, Emily Caudill, Jinn Fuller, Tony Mitzenberger, Cynthia Norton, Jen
Mitchell, Jeremy Dixon, Howard Wilson, Ron Whitehead. waiting today to
receive final confirmations from Russel Hulsey, Shelley Vaughn Hulsey,
J.B. Wilson, Scott Shuffitt, Suicide Helmet, Yoruba Kikaloma-Mason. if you have
another performer you'd like to suggest let me know asap as i've got to get
this info to festival producer today (should have done so last night). i'll
keep you all updated on everything and please do same. if everyone confirms,
and i think they will, we'll have bout 25 performers/artists. which as most or
all of you know will fill up most of the performance space at DCE. which is
good. i want this to be total mind blowing experience for everyone. Mathew
Landan has graciously agreed for each participating artist to exhibit
one artwork for the show.
any questions suggestions let me know. solo spoken word poets and
singers make sure you're able to do your piece with cacophony of sound whirling
round you. thanks you all. this gonna be a blast. i don't have
contact info for some of the folks i've included here so if you'll forward this
to them i'll sure appreciate it. my contact info listed below. y'all have fun.
love. your friend always, Ron, outlaw poet and damn proud of it
Hello all,
We are one week away from the commencement of the Louisville Experimental
Festival! I've personally distributed over 400 flyers in Louisville and have
mailed more that have been distributed in surrounding cities (Lexington,
Cincinnati, etc.). Several local media outlets (LEO Weekly, Velocity, WFPK) and
various online resources have been/will be covering the event as well! If you
haven't already, please invite your friends, fans, etc. to the event on
Facebook- http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=164257793634696
Below are the load in and performance details for the show that you will be
playing at. Considering the amount of performers/bands who will be playing each
night, it is very important that everyone arrives on time and is ready to set
up and play when they are scheduled to. Much planning has went into scheduling
each individual show to accommodate each performer/band/venue's
schedules. If you are late, you will have only the time remaining in your
designated time slot to set up and perform, so that the night can continue on
as planned. If you finish your set early, the next performer/band will simply
have more time. Please let me know if there are any questions or concerns.
Thanks to all of you for your participation and I look forward to seeing you
soon!
